Topic: Direct Speech.
Objective: SWBAT use reported speech by
retelling a short story.
WARM UP: 10 mins.
Broken telephone
·
Have the students to stand up.
·
Ask them to make two rows in front of the board.
·
Pass a marker to the first students in the row.
·
Whisper the sentences to the students in the back.
·
Encourage the students to pass the sentence by
whispering it and write on the board.
·
Have ready several sentences and let the students
write them as fast as they can.
ACTIVITY ONE: 10 mins.
Hand out, exercise 4
·
Have the students to complete the sentences in
exercise 4 from the handout.
·
They can work in pairs.
·
Make the students to check the answer with the other
classmates.
·
Repeat the answers all
together.
ACTIVITY TWO: 5 mins.
Pronunciation
·
Have the students pay attention to the listening.
·
Make the students repeat the phrases in the right
term.
·
Repeat two times each item.
ACTIVITY THREE: 10 mins.
Hand out, exercise 5.

ACTIVITY FOUR: 10 mins.
Retelling the story
·
Have the students to stand up.
·
Make two groups.
·
Hand out story one and two, one for each group.
·
Have the students discuss the story for a while.
·
Let the students change the tense of the story from
direct to reported speech.
·
Select the people who will retell the story.
·
Let the students retell the story as possible as
they can.
·
Finish the class with the third participation.
